The following story, from WNBY 1450, is about our very own Peter Rahilly, WD8QGX.
First Responder Peter Rahilly of Newberry nominated by Cindy Pitawanakwat. Cindy nominated Peter Rahilly because he works but will stop everything to help anyone.
Cindy shared this personal story with us…Peter worked very late one cold rainy night when her then 3-year-old granddaughter needed to be sent to Ann Arbor for emergency surgery and with the weather not clear enough for a Medical Flight, an ambulance was the only way to transport her grandchild to Ann Arbor….and Peter didn’t hesitate to make the drive after hearing it was for a sick child. He got Cindy’s granddaughter there safely and then turned around for home and went to work with very little sleep. We’re pleased to report that Cindy’s Granddaughter had a successful surgery and is alive and happy thanks to Peter responding to the call to get her to Ann Arbor. Cindy will never forget his compassion in helping her Granddaughter.
